Ed Albin has been a pump operator
for just six years, but in this short length of time, he's made
a huge impression on customers and co-workers. His diligence,
professionalism and commitment to safety also pleases his employer,
Central Concrete Pumping of Fort Worth, Texas.
The operator of the year award was
presented at the American Concrete Pumping Association's member
breakfast during World of Concrete in Orlando.
Ward Malisch of Concrete Construction
magazine presented the award on behalf of the Aberdeen Group.
Malisch noted that he was particularly impressed by contractor
letters of endorsement accompanying Albin's nomination for Operator
of the Year.

One of the contractors noted Albin's
"ability to know exactly what you want him to do." Another wrote
that Albin was "by far and away the best pumping operator I've
seen in 20 years. He can do things with a pump that some only
dream could be done."
Albin credits the support of Central
Concrete Pumping, which has confidence in Albin's ability and
decision-making. He also thanks his family, which "puts up with
his strange hours and never complains."
Albin is a great believer in taking
care of his pump and
always drives onto the site with
a clean, well-maintained machine. As he says, "if you take care
of your equipment, it takes care of you." Since joining Central,
he has operated Schwings all the way up the line to the 47SX.
Along with the honor of being this
year's top operator, he received round trip airfare for two to
the expo from Schwing America, $500 in spending money from Putzmeister
America, and a monogrammed Carhartt jacket from Construction Forms,
Inc. The annual Pump Operator of the Year was co-sponsored by
the American Concrete Pumping Association and The Aberdeen Group.
